The owners of Maaco Regina is a local business couple Allan & Lisa Mann They would also like to dispel one of the biggest myths about Maaco Regina. People often think because it's a big name you will be treated like a number, not a person.  This couldn't be further from the truth.  The Mann's live in this community and work hard to ensure each customer gets treated with exceptional hometown service.

We asked what the benefits of being a Maaco franchise are for the local consumer.

Here is what they had to say:

"Being part of the Maaco franchise offers us the ability to get a discount on our paint products, which allows us to pass those savings onto our customers. It also allows us to be a recognized fleet repair facility. Being part of a franchise means that your warranty is good throughout North America, so it does not matter if you move out of Regina, your repairs are guaranteed."

Why Locally Owned Businesses Like Maaco Matter

  • Compared to box stores, local businesses recycle a significantly larger share of revenue back into the local economy.
  • Local businesses create community-based jobs and often provide higher salaries than large corporations.
  • Unique, one-of-a-kind businesses add personality to a world dominated by chain brands.
  • Local ownership ensures that key decisions are made by those who actually live in the local community and will inevitably feel the impacts of those decisions.
  • Networks of small businesses create healthy competition in the marketplace, driving prices down and keeping products and services more affordable for all.

They can help you turn the car you drive back into the car you love.

5 THINGS A CAR OWNER SHOULD DO - TO PREVENT AND HELP IF YOU HAVE AN ACCIDENT

Owning a car is a big responsibility for both new and seasoned drivers. In order to reduce stress further down the line, there are a few key things every driver should know. Luckily, these necessary basics are pretty easy to find out!

Learn the basics of maintenance. That means checking things the oil brake fluid, antifreeze, and windshield wiper fluid. Even better, learn to jump your car in case the battery dies and replace a tire. Everything you learn becomes a tool in case of emergency. Why not invest a little bit of time for less of a headache later on?

Find your car’s manual and read it. Read it again! Put it in a place where you can easily locate it again. Why? There is a lot of information specifically for your make, model, and year. Your manual will tell you which maintenance tasks should be prioritized, as well as how often those things should be addressed. Some critical ones to keep in mind are oil changes, wiper blade replacement, filter changes, fluid flushes, and when to get new tires. In addition, it will tell you what each light on the dash indicates.

Know where your personal identification is, who your insurance provider is, and where the documentation for insurance and registration is stored at. It’s simple enough to keep it in your car, and that will certainly do the job. But in the case of an emergency, the last thing you want to do is have to go digging through the glove box, center console, and through all the other cubbies and pockets your car has just to find it. Do yourself a favor, and keep it in one spot so that you can find it and reach it easily.

Put an emergency kit in your trunk. Jumper cables, a flashlight, spare tire, and a first aid kit are incredibly important. Consider also including some weather specific gear like sunscreen, a towel, blankets, umbrellas, etc. Safety first!

Bergens auto body shares news of changes to SGI Claims process happening soon!

Saskatchewan drivers now have a new way for processing collision claims through Saskatchewan Government Insurance (SGI), specifically for minor damages, like in a fender bender-type collision. Drivers can soon choose to take their vehicles to an auto body repair shop approved by SGI, where both the estimate and repairs will be done.

The minister responsible for SGI Don McMorris said the new setup will allow drivers to have vehicle repairs completed at the same shop where the claim is filed. SGI's claims centres will still be open and employ the same number of staff. They'll still be an option for drivers with minor damages, and they'll continue to handle larger damage, such as total losses. Where the vehicle will go will still be determined when a driver initially files the claim. The government says an audit process is in place to ensure body shops remain objective in their assessment. "People from SGI will be evaluating, you know, a spot evaluation of the body shop to make sure the damage was accurately assessed," McMorris said. "It's a benefit to the customer, it's a benefit to the body shop, as well as SGI. It gets some of that work out of our adjustment centres." McMorris said repair shops will also be subject to annual training.

Approximately 20 repair shops in the province are already doing damage estimates for drivers, SGI said. It hopes 180 shops will be accredited to do so by the end of the year. SGI estimated that there are more than 200,000 auto damage claims in Saskatchewan each year.
