While Bergens Auto Body Regina appreciate your business, we know it's never fun to get into a collision in the first place.

Here they share some great tips on Potholes and dealing with Winter's Damage:

With the snow slowly melting, that mean's potholes! And you can start to think about how to deal with the Winter's damage.

Keep these driving tips in mind this spring as you travel:

Hitting potholes can throw your car's front end out of alignment. If you feel your car "pulling" during driving, that's a clue that you could have a problem. Check the tread on your tires: uneven tread wear can be a sign of misalignment. If you hit a severe pothole, have us check your vehicle's alignment and tire balance.

When you hit a pothole you can damage your tire and/or the metal wheel of your vehicle. Keeping your tires properly inflated will help reduce damage from potholes and other road hazards.

The impact of potholes on tires increases dramatically with speed and can cause hidden, internal damage that could lead to tire failure weeks, or even months, later. It is best to avoid potholes entirely, but if that's not possible, don't brake during pothole impact. Instead, apply brakes before hitting a pothole and release them just prior to impact. Braking during the impact sets up the tire and wheel assembly for a "solid hit" against the edge of the hole.

Hopefully this snow will go away soon, and we can start enjoying Spring! But while we wait for that to happen...

Wash the under body:

Wintertime driving will coat the bottom of your car with salt, sand and other grime that can cause corrosion. Corrosion can lead to rust problems, which can make your car much harder to resell or even dangerous to drive.

Replace worn wipers. Winter can be brutal on your wipers—make sure they’re ready for spring showers. Check that the rubber isn't dry or cracked, then turn them on and make  sure they’re properly cleaning the wind shield. If you see a problem, come in and get a new set installed!

Bergen's GUARANTEE that you will be treated to both friendly service and quality workmanship....and after speaking to their clients we can definitely say that they do all they claim and all in a style all of their own! sure they’re properly cleaning the wind shield. If you see a problem, come in and get a new set installed!

Bergens Auto Body & Collison Centre your Regina Auto Body experts give a tip on caring for your vehicles new finish

Bergens are a local family business and from the moment you walk in the door you will be treated like family!

Bergens Auto Body Regina  are proud to have an amazing 80 Years Auto Body Experience, and they have been serving Regina Auto Body needs for over 30 Years....they have a loyal customer base that simply wouldn't think of going anywhere else. Bergen's are an SGI Accredited Regina Auto Body and Collision Repair shop  , they offer courtesy cars to their clients and they specialize in foreign vehicles.

While Bergens Auto Body Regina appreciate your business, we know it's never fun to get into a collision in the first place.

Here they recommend that you follow these simple precautions in the first few months of your new finish's life:

In the first 90 days...

Do not wax or polish the vehicle - this will allow the finish to dry and harden completely. (Do not use silicone containing waxes or polishes.)

In the first 30 days...

Do not use a commercial car wash. Stiff brushes or sponges could mar the finish and damage the surface. Wash the vehicle by hand with cool water and a very mild wash solution. Be sure to use a soft cloth or sponge.

Wash the vehicle in the shade - never in the sun. (Never use Dish Soap)

Do not dry wipe the vehicle - always use clean water. Dry wiping could scratch the finish.

Do not park under trees which drop sap or near factories with heavy smoke fallout. Sap or industrial fallout mar or spot a freshly painted surface.

Do not spill gasoline, oil, antifreeze, transmission fluid or windshield solvent on the new finish. If you do...immediately rinse off with water. Do not wipe.

Do not scrape ice or snow from the surface. Your snow scraper can act like a paint scraper if the finish is new. Brush off the loose material with a soft snow brush.

Because of the acid content in bird droppings, you should wash it off as soon as possible. It will damage the fresh paint job.

Bergen's GUARANTEE that you will be treated to both friendly service and quality workmanship....and after speaking to their clients we can definitely say that they do all they claim and all in a style all of their own!

Bergen's are an SGI Accredited Regina Auto Body and Collision Repair shop  , they offer courtesy cars to their clients and they specialize in foreign vehicles.

While Bergens Auto Body Regina appreciate your business, we know it's never fun to get into a collision in the first place.

So here are some great Smart Winter driving tips to help you get to where you're going safely!

Driving in Snow and Ice.

The best advice for driving in bad winter weather is not to drive at all, if you can avoid it. Don't go out until the snow plows and sanding trucks have had a chance to do their work, and allow yourself extra time to reach your destination. If you must drive in snowy conditions, make sure your car is prepared, and that you know how to handle road conditions. It's helpful to practice winter driving techniques in a snowy, open parking lot, so you're familiar with how your car handles. Consult your owner's manual for tips specific to your vehicle.

Driving safely on icy roads

1. Decrease your speed and leave yourself plenty of room to stop. You should allow at least three times more space than usual between you and the car in front of you.

2. Brake gently to avoid skidding. If your wheels start to lock up, ease off the brake.

3. Turn on your lights to increase your visibility to other motorists.

4. Keep your lights and windshield clean.

5. Use low gears to keep traction, especially on hills.

6. Don't use cruise control or overdrive on icy roads.

7. Be especially careful on bridges, overpasses and infrequently traveled roads, which will freeze first. Even at temperatures above freezing, if the conditions are wet, you might encounter ice in shady areas or on exposed roadways like bridges.

8. Don't pass snow plows and sanding trucks. The drivers have limited visibility, and you're likely to find the road in front of them worse than the road behind.

9. Don't assume your vehicle can handle all conditions. Even four-wheel and front-wheel drive vehicles can encounter trouble on winter roads.

Even the experts sometimes strugle on ice!

If your rear wheels skid...

1. Take your foot off the accelerator.

2. Steer in the direction you want the front wheels to go. If your rear wheels are sliding left, steer left. If they're sliding right, steer right.

3. If your rear wheels start sliding the other way as you recover, ease the steering wheel toward that side. You might have to steer left and right a few times to get your vehicle completely under control.

4. If you have standard brakes, pump them gently.

5. If you have anti-lock brakes (ABS), do not pump the brakes. Apply steady pressure to the brakes. You will feel the brakes pulse — this is normal.

If your front wheels skid...

1. Take your foot off the gas and shift to neutral, but don't try to steer immediately.

2. As the wheels skid sideways, they will slow the vehicle and traction will return. As it does, steer in the direction you want to go. Then put the transmission in "drive" or release the clutch, and accelerate gently.

If you get stuck...

1. Do not spin your wheels. This will only dig you in deeper.

2. Turn your wheels from side to side a few times to push snow out of the way.

3. Use a light touch on the gas, to ease your car out.

4. Use a shovel to clear snow away from the wheels and the underside of the car.

5. Pour sand, kitty litter, gravel or salt in the path of the wheels, to help get traction.

6. Try rocking the vehicle. (Check your owner's manual first — it can damage the transmission on some vehicles.) Shift from forward to reverse, and back again. Each time you're in gear, give a light touch on the gas until the vehicle gets going.

Bergens Autobody your Regina Autobody expert give some great Driving Tips to help avoid an accident!

While Bergens Auto Body Regina appreciate your business, we know it's never fun to get into a collision in the first place. So here are some great Smart Driving tips to help you get to where you're going safely.

•Stay out of the way. Give aggressive drivers plenty of room to get around you.

•Drive defensively. Do not assume other drivers will follow traffic rules.

•Do not insist on your right-of-way if another driver is challenging you.

•Give a tailgater an opportunity to pass you by changing lanes.

•Be alert to those who are putting on makeup, talking on car phones, reading, eating or otherwise not paying attention to driving.

•Give cars room to merge ahead of you.

•Follow these tips to avoid rude or aggressive driving tendencies yourself.

•Don't make eye contact with an aggressive driver.

•Don't use obscene gestures.

•Use your horn sparingly.

•Don't block the passing lane.

•Don't switch lanes without signaling.

•Avoid blocking the right-hand turn lane.

•Do not tailgate.

•Don't get distracted by the car phone.

•Don't play the radio excessively loudly.

•Allow plenty of time for your trip.

•Driving is transportation, not competition. Want to compete? Find a racetrack.

•Be courteous, even when other drivers are not. Retaliating won't get you where you're going any sooner. Don't assume the other driver is out to antagonize you; he or she may just be in a hurry, too.

•It's not your job to teach others to drive. If, for example, you block a speeding car to slow it down, you might be inviting trouble. Leave law enforcement to the police.

•Make time good instead of making good time. If it takes 25 minutes to get to work, why leave yourself only 15? Leave earlier and don't play beat the clock. If driving makes you impatient, play music or listen to a book on tape to pass the time.

Here Bergens tell us about their Courtesy cars!

Did you know that not all Regina Auto Body Courtesy Cars are Created equal?

As an additional service to their valued customers Bergens will provide a courtesy car to any clients that require one when their vehicle is at Bergens getting repaired.

This in itself is not unique as many Body Shops in Regina organize courtesy cars for their customers, but at Bergens they really do bend over backwards to accomodate their clients needs!

1. All Courtesy Vehicles will be comparable to the vehicle being repaired ( size.. etc)- this means  for example that a family that has a Van or a large SUV doesn't have to try and squeeze into a standard vehicle.

2.Bergen Auto Body just uses BUDGET for it's courtesy cars - this means you are in reliable , relatively new vehicles and you are always covered in the unexpected event that you break down!

3. Bergens offer this as a FREE additional service- there is absolutely no additional charge!

Regina Auto Body | TRUSTED TIPS

BERGENS AUTO BODY a REGINA AUTO BODY EXPERT, offers a Tip on Color matching, on the Regina Directory

posted by Trusted Regina    |   April 7, 2012 18:07

Bergens are a local family business and from the moment you walk in the door you will be treated like family!

They are proud to have an amazing 80 Years Auto Body Experience, and they have been serving Regina Auto Body needs for over 30 Years....they have a loyal customer base that simply wouldn't think of going anywhere else. Bergen's are an SGI Accredited Regina Auto Body and Collision Repair shop They offer courtesy cars to their clients and they specialize in foreign vehicles

Here John from Bergens  shares a Trusted REGINA AUTO BODY Tip on Color Matching!

Let's say you get a little scratch or a ding on your car. You'd like to match the exact color to have it repaired and looking good. If your car is older, the colors might not be easy to find. So how do you match auto paint?

First, you need to know a few things about automotive paint:

•Automotive paint is made of resin, pigment and solvent.

•Resin determines the durability of your paint and the quality of the application [source: autobodysupply].

•Solvent provides the right amount of viscosity, so the paint can be applied [source: autobodysupply].

•Pigment comes in powder form and includes colors or toners that are mixed together to give the finish.

When choosing a color to match your car:

1.Find the color code for the original paint on your car. You'll need the manufacturer's name, the car's model number and the year the car was manufactured. With this information, you may be able to find your car's color code on the manufacturer's Web sites, but it depends on the age of your car. You can also find your car's color code on the car's identification plate (sometimes called the Service Parts Identification) [source: robertspaintcare].

2.Take the color code to an auto body supply shop or repair shop and order the paint. Keep in mind that some cars may have two tones and need two or more paint colors [source: autobodysupply].

3.Mix the paint until you get the exact color you need: start with the variations in lightness and darkness and adjust the hue until it matches.

Always blend the color to achieve a color match. Even if the color looks close enough, blend it! Remember, you don't want the color of the spot you're repairing to be too light or too dark, and you have a lot of variables to deal with. Matching the exact color is especially important when spot repairing. Check out the You Tube Video below for more tips!

"Customer satisfaction means quality at Bergen's"

Bergen Auto Body a REGINA AUTO BODY EXPERT, offers a Tip: What to do when you have an accident, on the Regina Directory

posted by Trusted Regina    |   March 22, 2012 21:00

Bergens are a local family business and from the moment you walk in the door you will be treated like family!

They are proud to have an amazing 80 Years Auto Body Experience, and they have been servingRegina Auto Body needs for over 30 Years....they have a loyal customer base that simply wouldn't think of going anywhere else. Bergen's are an SGI AccreditedRegina Auto Body and Collision Repair shop They offer courtesy cars to their clients and they specialize in foreign vehicles

Here John shares a Trusted Tip on what to do when you have an accident!

1. Exchange information with the other driver involved in the collision.

Get the other driver's:

•name

•customer number

•licence plate number

A Collision Report form (pdf, 55 kb) can help you remember what information to collect. Print a copy and keep it in your glove box.

If applicable, get the names and addresses of any witnesses. Witnesses can be crucial in determining who's at fault or responsible for the collision.

When to report your collision to the police

You must report the collision to the police if any of the following circumstances apply:

•the collision results in injury or death. If there are injuries, you must also report the collision to 1 of our injury claims offices.

•it's a hit and run

•a driver is impaired

•any of the vehicles involved have to be towed from the scene

•the collision involves a vehicle that does not have a valid licence plate or is an out-of-province vehicle If none of the above apply, you only need to report the collision to SGI.

2. File your claim.

To file your claim, you can:

•use SGI online auto claim registration service, Auto eClaim

•call SGI Dial-A-Claim service during normal office hours at the claims centre closest to your home Have the following ready when reporting your claim:

•your driver's licence

•your vehicle registration

•if applicable, your auto extension insurance policy number

SGI will then set up an appointment to have your vehicle appraised and the damage assessed.

3. Meet with an SGI appraiser.

On the day of your appointment, drive your vehicle to the claims centre. The appraiser will assess the damage to your vehicle and the cost of repairs. If your vehicle isn't safe to drive, they'll arrange to have it towed to 1 of our claims centres.

4. Have your vehicle repaired.

Once the appraisal is done, you'll get a printout outlining the cost of repairs if your vehicle is repairable. After your adjuster confirms your insurance coverage is in order, you can have your vehicle repaired at the auto body shop of your choice.See SGI Vehicle insurance coverage section for details.

5. Authorize payment.

Once your vehicle has been repaired, the body shop will ask you to sign a Certification of Repairs form. This form signifies that you're satisfied with the repairs and authorizes SGI to pay the body shop.

Bergen's GUARANTEE that you will be treated to both friendly service and quality workmanship....and after speaking to their clients we can definitely say that they do all they claim and all in a style all of their own! Bergen's AutoBody & Collision Centre are TRUSTED REGINA AUTO BODY EXPERTS...and they are waiting to help you.
