So a bit about me! Growing up, I was never one of the jocks. Oh I played, soccer, hockey, and ball just like all the kids, but I was never really that good. Usually one of the last picked on the team… clearly it wasn’t my destiny to be a professional athlete.Instead, I loved puzzles, seriously, I was a pretty big nerd… my head was always buried in a crossword, brain teaser, mind bender, word search, or sudoku. As a Regina mortgage professional, nothing has really changed. I see every new clients’ mortgage as a puzzle that needs to be solved. Let me assure you, I do not rest until the solving is done! Specifically, some of the puzzles I enjoy working on now are clients who are new immigrants to Canada seeking their first mortgage, self-employed, recently separated, or buying their first home and… First Time Home Buyers are a personal favourite – I like first timers even more than Sudokus! As each client is different, handling financing for investment properties, purchase plus improvements, mortgage refinancing and mortgage renewals provides a unique challenge.

Could you ever have imagined a time in your life when your car would be able to “see” other vehicles or pedestrians? This amazing technology is now readily available, and that means many new cars and trucks can now anticipate collisions, and automatically apply the brakes or take corrective steering actions!!
Some of these capabilities, such as forward-collision warning systems, have been around for a few years, mostly on high-end luxury cars. Others, like steering assist, are just getting added. We are happy to share that collision-avoidance systems are getting better and are spreading to mainstream cars.
Radar, Cameras and Lasers Utilized in Collision Avoidance Systems
These cutting-edge active safety systems rely on a number of sensors, cameras, lasers, and short- and long-range radar. They monitor what is going on around the vehicle—vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists, and even road signs—as well as the vehicle itself. Inputs are processed by computers, which then prompt some action from the car or the driver. Those actions may start with attention-grabbers, such as a beep, a flashing dashboard icon, a tug from the seatbelt, or a vibration in the seat or steering wheel. If the driver doesn’t respond, the more advanced systems then apply partial or full braking force. If a warning system emits too many inappropriate alerts, however, then there is an increasing temptation to switch it off.

Camping season is over for another year. Before you put your trailer or motorhome in storage, make sure you take the time to protect it for the winter. While it seems like a lot of work, the extra effort you put in now will protect your vehicle from deterioration. With a little bit of elbow grease, your RV will last for many camping seasons to come. In our latest Campbell & Halliburton Regina auto insurance tip, we share SGI’s RV Winterizing Tips.
Step 1: Drain the water from your pipes
Step 2: Check your seals
Leaky roofs can cause major problems to the inside of your RV. The best way to avoid problems is to inspect your seals and ensure that there are no leaks. This includes examining your roof, slide-outs and windows to look for any holes or leaks
Step 3: Remove your RV batteries
If you plan on putting your RV in storage, take out your batteries and put them in a cool, dry place or on a charger.
Step 4: Protect your RV’s exterior

Step 6: Unhook your propane tanks
Step 7: Lubricate all locks and hinges
Step 8: Clean the interior
Step 9: Tarp, cover and moisture prevention

Then, pump RV antifreeze into all of your tanks, lines and drains. Due to Saskatchewan’s subzero temperatures, it’s important to use RV antifreeze. Make sure it’s rated to -50 degrees C.
Clean the outside of your RV and inspect it for any cracks. Use an RV sealant to fix the crack(s) and let it dry completely. Then, apply wax to protect your vehicle.
Stop mould from growing on your awning by cleaning it thoroughly and allowing it to dry completely.
Store them in a well-ventilated area in order to prevent rust or damage.
Letting your RV sit untouched for months can cause the locks and hinges to get sticky or stop working completely. Save yourself a hassle the next camping season and lubricate all of your locks and hinges right now.
A clean and sanitized interior can make a world of difference when it comes to avoiding unwanted smells and rodents from entering your RV.
Most tarps are made of non-breathable materials, and this can cause moisture to get trapped underneath – leading to rust. We recommend choosing a breathable fabric cover to prevent water and condensation.
