Trusted Regina Trusted Tip On Caring For Your Carpets & Floors

Easy, proactive steps will keep your carpet looking good over time.

  • Don't track dirt inside Placing walk-off mats outside all entrances will help absorb soil and moisture and trap excessive dirt, sand, grit, oil, asphalt, or driveway sealer that might otherwise be tracked into the home.
  • Clean mats on a regular basis (or sooner, when they need it) so they don't become sources of soil themselves.
  • Use a quality pad A good carpet pad not only gives better resilience and comfort underfoot, but it can also extend the life of your carpet, especially on stairs. Because some carpets carry warranties with specific density and thickness requirements, be sure and review your warranty before purchasing your pad. Explore varieties of carpet pads.
  • Occasionally move heavy furniture- Moving your furniture on occasion won't just renew the feel of your room, it will also help avoid excessive pile crushing. Also consider using carpet protectors under the legs of tables, chairs, and other furniture to help distribute the weight. Damage can occur if you use chairs or appliances with rollers or casters without a chair pad designed specifically for carpet. Protect carpet when moving furniture When moving heavy wheeled furniture (pianos, buffets, etc.), prevent damage by placing a protective barrier of heavy cardboard or plywood between the wheels and the carpet.
  • Clean your area rugs -If you use area rugs on your carpet, be sure to clean them regularly, and make sure you clean and restore the pile of the carpet underneath as well. Also, be sure to check area rugs for colorfastness before placing them on carpet because the colour in some rugs may bleed through. After cleaning your carpet, allow it to dry completely before replacing rugs.
  • Reduce periods of direct sunlight- Protect your carpet from prolonged periods of direct sunlight with blinds, shades, or awnings.
  • Vacuum frequently for long-term beauty- The most important step in caring for your carpet is vacuuming it thoroughly and frequently, particularly in high-traffic areas. Walking on a soiled carpet allows the soil particles to work their way below the surface of the pile where they are far more difficult to remove and can damage the carpet fibres. Frequent vacuuming removes these particles from the surface before problems occur. For rooms with light traffic, vacuum the carpet traffic lanes twice weekly and the entire area once weekly. In areas with heavy traffic, vacuum the carpet traffic lanes daily and the entire area twice weekly. Up to three passes of the machine will suffice for light soiling, but five to seven passes are necessary for heavily soiled areas. Change the vacuuming direction occasionally to help stand the pile upright and reduce matting.

Hardwood & Laminate Flooring Care

Learn how to keep it looking great while standing up to the toughest household conditions.

Maintenance guidelines

•Use a damp cloth to blot up spills as soon as they happen. Never allow liquids to stand on your floor.

•For tough spots, such as oil, paint, markers, lipstick, ink, or tar, use acetone/nail polish remover on a clean white cloth, then wipe the area with a damp cloth to remove any remaining residue.

•Sweep, dust, or vacuum the floor regularly with the hard floor attachment (not the beater bar) to prevent the accumulation of dirt and grit that can scratch or dull the floor finish.

•Periodically clean the floor with cleaning products made specifically for hardwood or laminate floor care.

•Protect your flooring to keep it looking like new

•Entry mats will help collect the dirt, sand, grit, and other substances such as oil, asphalt, or driveway sealer that might otherwise be tracked onto your floor.

•To prevent slippage of area rugs, use an approved vinyl rug underlayment.

•Use floor protectors and wide-load bearing leg bases/rollers to minimize the chance of indentations and scratches from heavy objects. As a rule, the heavier the object, the wider the floor protector.

•Avoid excessive exposure to water during periods of inclement weather.

•Keep your pet's nails trimmed to prevent them from scratching your floor.

•Never try to slide heavy objects across the floor.

•A protective mat should be used for furniture or chairs with casters. While cleaning is easy, there are a few things to avoid:

•Don't use oil-based, wax, polish, or strong ammoniated or abrasive cleaners.

•Don't use steel wool or scouring powder.

•Don't wash or wet-mop the floor with soap, water, oil-soap detergent, or any other liquid cleaning material. This could cause swelling, warping, delamination, and joint-line separation, and void the warranty.

•Don't use any type of buffing machine.

Trusted had heard great things about Wheatland Fireplace from many people in Regina and Saskatoon, so when we went into the Regina showroom, where the Head Office is located to have a little look around, and  we were thrilled to be so warmly welcomed by the super sales staff, just like people told us we would be! The showroom is AMAZING and you cannot fail to be impressed by the range of Fireplaces, stoves, hot tubs and all accented by stunning wall art and home decor items!! WHO KNEW!!

Trusted  set up a meeting with Chuck the owner to discuss Trusted. Chuck is instantly likeable and afer spending 45 mins with him, it is was obvious that he sets the tone of the company and leads by example, he is forward thinking and absolutely ' GETS' what Trusted stands for! Chuck loved the idea and signed up on the spot for Saskatoon and Regina!

The Trusted verification process was started in both markets - when we have Partners that are in multi markets or multi locations we ask for 25 clients names and numbers for each location- to ensure standards are excellent everywhere ( not just where the boss has his office!)... The comments we got back from clients were fantastic, their clients really are  FANS of Wheatland Fireplace and they had great things to say about the staff, the after service and the products themselves!

"I am really happy with my experience at Wheatland Fireplace, and have already recommended them to friends! I initially chose them after going to several of their competitors looking for a fireplace, but i was left feeling underwhelmed with the lack of attention or service, I felt the showroom staff seemed to dismiss me. The way Wheatland Fireplace dealt with me was really great from the moment I stepped through the door...I chose a fireplace and they installed it ..a little while after I had an issue with the wind howling down the chimney really loud, and when I spoke to Wheatland about it they sent someone straight over to rectify it for me..no questions asked! I have just purchased a BBQ from them and plan to buy a Hot Tub from them next year too ..they have been great. I have to give them a 9.5 or 10 out of 10 ..as I have absolutely nothing negative to say about them! " Richard Fulham, Dilke, SK.

Here John & Johnathan from Bergens  share a Trusted REGINA AUTO BODY Tip on Looking after your vehicle AFTER they have fixed it!

We recommend that you follow these simple precautions in the first few months of your new finish's life:

In the first 90 days...

Do not wax or polish the vehicle - this will allow the finish to dry and harden completely. (Do not use silicone containing waxes or polishes.)

In the first 30 days...

  • Do not use a commercial car wash -Stiff brushes or sponges could mar the finish and damage the surface.
  • Wash the vehicle by hand with cool water and a very mild wash solution- Be sure to use a soft cloth or sponge.
  • Wash the vehicle in the shade - never in the sun. (Never use Dish Soap)
  • Do not dry wipe the vehicle - always use clean water, Dry wiping could scratch the finish.
  • Do not park under trees which drop sap or near factories with heavy smoke fallout- Sap or industrial fallout mar or spot a freshly painted surface.
  • Do not spill gasoline, oil, antifreeze, transmission fluid or windshield solvent on the new finish-If you do...immediately rinse off with water. Do not wipe.
  •  Do not scrape ice or snow from the surface- Your snow scraper can act like a paint scraper if the finish is new. Brush off the loose material with a soft snow brush.
  • Because of the acid content in bird droppings, you should wash it off as soon as possible. It will damage the fresh paint job.

Trusted Founder is interviewed by Saskatoon Star Phoenix and Global Regina as www.trustedregina.com launches to public

Websites help identify trustworthy businesses
By Jenn Sharp, The StarPhoenix April 19, 2012

Sara Wheelwright began Trusted Saskatoon less than a year ago and launched Trusted Regina on Monday. The websites are a service directory of businesses Wheelwright and her staff have fully researched. Trusted partners are held accountable for their business dealings and contribute tips and advice to the website for consumers. Along with the sites are blogs full of mystery shopping reviews conducted by the Trusted staff and a YouTube channel. Here, Wheelwright tells StarPhoenix business reporter Jenn Sharp how she's grown her business so fast and why she started it.

Q: What's the concept of Trusted Saskatoon?
A: I thought there was a gap in the market. I have an 18year background in advertising. I wanted to provide something that works for the public - an agency that finds businesses that deserve the promotion and informs the public about them in a different way. People are going online for answers now. We want to make the whole process simple. We chose the 40 most-used advertising categories. When they go to our site they have a choice of a maximum of three in each category. We try to find different personalities for mortgage specialists and real estate agents. We also demand a lot from the Trusted partners. We become a group that works for each other. If any of the partners lets us down it affects everybody. They're contracted to uphold the five Trusted guarantees. They're told that if we get a complaint and it's found they've done something with intent or lost integrity, they'll be removed immediately from the site. We don't mess around.

Q: Why do you only have three per category?
A: We're trying to make the process easy. If you have 10, how do you choose? The listings are very comprehensive. The testimonials are from surveys we do with clients. We ask for 25 clients' names and numbers from each of the businesses. We then call a portion of them and we're looking from good to great reviews. We're talking to the public and they tell us great stories about their dealings with the businesses. We use those testimonials to start off the listings - real testimonials from real people. I think we're the only place online that qualifies these testimonials because we're speaking to the people ourselves.

Q: How many staff do you employ?
A: I have four lovely ladies. Two are based in Saskatoon and two in Regina. As we expand, I'm going to be solidifying the province first of all and then going into Alberta, starting with Calgary, we'll be taking on more staff. There's a lot of work to signing up companies. We're constantly in touch with the partners and asking them for tips for the site. People do research online before they buy. It's much nicer to have people in Saskatoon or Regina giving potential customers tips before they buy. It's elevating our partners as the experts and getting them engaged with the public.

Q: How did you come up with the idea?
A: I moved here from England in 2006. When you immigrate to the middle of Canada, it's not worth the freight so I had sold everything I owned in England and came over with clothes and shoes - all the important things! I had to fill a house with everything. The excitement of shopping wore off because it's really not what it was when I was back in England and I knew the shops. It was so labour intensive. I stumbled upon some good ones but a lot of the smaller businesses don't have the budget to get your attention. I had some bad experiences. It's easy to do business when things go easy. Once things don't that's really the difference between a good and a great business. One of the things that I always speak about with the trusted partners is that nobody should be in a position of loss because they chose to deal with you. That's a foundation of Trusted Saskatoon.

Q: You're expanding rapidly - how have you done this?
A: Trusted Saskatoon launched May 30 last year. Scotia Bank is a preferred bank of immigration and they hand out flyers to immigrants that come to see them. We focus on everybody because everybody has those moments where a need arises and they don't know who to turn to. We also run ads on community radio on the weekend in every single foreign language show. On seven of the shows we have the ad voiced in the language of the show. An old marketing term is 'speak to the dog in the language of the dog.' One of the things that you miss as a new person coming to a new country is your language, your food and your music. That's a way to engage with the immigrant population who, a lot of the time, become insulated because they've been ripped off. We get a lot of people looking at auto repair and service too. A lot of our fans on Facebook are women. I think we appeal more to women because they tend to be the ones that do the calling. This started because I got ripped off when I first came here by a plumbing company. Thanks to that company that was the big kick to put this idea down on paper. I got a phone call from one of my contractors who's amazed at how many calls he gets - about one a day. He said that his business, since last year, has grown 400 per cent. He went from employing one guy to three crews. More importantly, he's making sure that he instils that integrity and honesty in the people that work for him. Those are the people that deserve this recognition.

Trusted Regina brags about ACTIVE ELECTRIC a Trusted Regina Electrician

ACTIVE ELECTRIC

We heard about Brad Ross the owner of Active Electric, through one of our Trusted REGINA CONTRACTORS,  who used Active Electric on a regular basis as a sub-contractor on renovations that he did....we were told that he was great to work with and he always turned up on time, left the place tidy and does a good job ...which as we all know seems to be RARE indeed in the world of most sub-trades.

ACTIVE ELECTRIC is not the biggest or the longest established Electical operation in Regina, but Brad is honest, hard working and has good relationships with all the REGINA CONTRACTORS he works with on a regular basis, and this in itself is a good indicator of a TRUSTWORTHY REGINA ELECTRICIAN!

When we spoke to his clients as part of the Trusted verification process they all told us how happy they were with him...all of the domestic and commercial clients had glowing words of praise about Brad and they were grateful that they had been recommended ACTIVE.

Here is what one client had to say about Active Electric:

My home had water damage. The contractor that was working with me recommended Active Electric. In the past I have had trouble with trades people not showing up being unreliable.Brad came out to the small town I live in, he really went the extra mile.I couldn't rely on local people but I could rely on Brad. He had to make a few trips out here and he also set up wiring for the contractors or they wouldn't have been able to use their tools.I was impressed with his communication skills as he really listened & problem solved... very proactive. He also gave me more suggestion for future wiring that will be needed in my home. Brad is very polite is obviously an honest person with integrity.I asked him if he would be my electrician like when you want to have the same dentist or hair dressers! Everything he said he would do he did, and his written quote matched the invoice." Bonnie Hedley, Regina

Brad also sees the opportunity to be Trusted will help those people who are looking for him can now find him easily on GOOGLE. He has not yet invested in a website for his business, so was aware that he might be losing referrals because potential clients were struggling to find him online..now that is not the case...now people just type ACTIVE ELECTRIC REGINA into Google and up he pops because of Trusted and our great Local Search Engine Optimization..in fact it won't be long before we are on the first page of Google searches for ' ELECTRICIAN REGINA' and he will be well positioned to get new business as well as solidify all these referrals we know will be happening for him as he does such great work!

Check out his listing here in REGINA ELECTRICIANS on the Regina Directory of excellence...we are proud to have him on board and he sets a great standard for the others that will follow him.
